 Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is a colorless or blue-tinted liquid composed of silver, ammonium, and fluoride ions. It is a topical medication used to treat and prevent dental caries and relieve dentinal hypersensitivity. SDF possesses antimicrobial properties and is used in the remineralization of enamel and dentin on teeth for preventing and arresting dental caries. SDF is a relatively new material that can be used to reduce and crystallize dental caries in a simple non-invasive treatment modality without the use of local anesthetic.
